During her testimony on Friday, Barnes-Joseph claimed Smith opened fire on her because she refused to open her purse to prove she hadn’t stolen $2,000 from the MC. Barnes-Joseph said Smith demanded she dump the contents of her handbag - and pulled out a gun when she refused. She told the court, “When she did that, I knew she was trying to make a scene. I knew I didn’t have her money so it didn’t bother me.”
When Smith attempted to snatch the bag from her, the two began to tussle, according to Barnes-Joseph, before the rapper shot her in the abdomen. Smith has pleaded not guilty to all charges but faces up to 25 years in jail if she’s convicted. The trial continues.
From this testimony it sounds like an accident to me, she said they tussle and then she was shot. Remy did say that she didn’t mean to shoot her. Does this sounds intentional?
According to the New York Post, the prosecutions case against Remy Ma took a hit yesterday when their third witness testified that she was too drunk at the time of the shooting to identify the shooter.
“I don’t recall seeing her at all,” said 25-year-old Krystal Bolton. “I just remember a light flashing and me running to [the victim] on the ground.”
So far only one of for potential witnesses has testified to seeing Remy Ma approach Makeda Barnes Joseph with a weapon.
Makeda Barnes is expected to hit the stand next, she is probably the prosecutor strongest witness.
Jury selection for the New York trial of a Grammy-nominated rapper accused of shooting an acquaintance over missing money will begin next week. The 26-year-old Bronx rapper is accused of shooting a woman in the abdomen last July after leaving a Greenwich Village party. She said the woman took $2,000 from her purse. She has pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges and is free on $250,000 bail. She could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Damn, 25 years is a long damn time to be sitting in someone’s prison!
A Manhattan judge on Thursday (January 31) set a tentative date of February 25 for the start of Remy Ma’s impending trial on charges of assault and witness tampering. Remy stands accused of shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph on July 14 during an argument over missing money. She was initially charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors reduced the charge when they discovered that the weapon fired accidentally. She was later indicted on witness tampering charge after she allegedly ordered a group of men to assault the boyfriend of a potential witness.
All I got to say is good luck to Remy on this one, facing time behind bars is a crazy thing!
This chicks are going at each other right now, at that end of the day, the whole beef started from competition in Hip Hop. That being said who do you think is Sicker On The Mic?
I’m not asking who write their own rhymes, but rather who delivers them better.
Oh yeah, this may be easy to answer but don’t be mad at us the artists are the ones who make claims of being the best!
