Makeda side of the story
Remy reaction to the verdict
What is wrong with Ms. Jones? If the girl was shot, someone has to pay! The gun should not even been in the equation.
I don’t believe Remy Ma is evil, but If the gun wasn’t drawn she wouldn’t been shot!
Oh yeah, Remy should have copped out to the 3 years she would of been home in a 1 and 1/2.
NEW YORK - Remy Ma’s wedding plans are up in the air. But a judge has made definite plans for the Grammy-nominated rapper: eight years in prison for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub.
The state Supreme Court sentence was handed Tuesday to the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Remy Smith, for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion.
The defendant, who could have faced up to 25 years in prison, was teary-eyed as she heard the sentence. She says the shooting last summer was an accident; an appeal is planned.
After the sentencing, a man identified by court officers as Remy Ma’s fiance, fellow rapper Papoose, began screaming in a hallway outside the courtroom. “All you want is money!” he said, apparently referring to the victim.
“Lock me up! Lock me up!” he then shouted to court officers, who instead escorted him to an elevator and out of the courthouse.
All I have to say is dammmmn, eight years is a long time. Hold your head, Remy!
Papoose and Remy’s wedding have been called off because of this!
Remy Ma’s jailhouse nuptials were abuptly called off Monday when her rapper groom Papoose showed up with a most curious wedding present: a handcuff key.
“A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled,” a corrections official told the Daily News.
“The key that was found today easily opened handcuffs that we and other law enforcement officials use,” the official said.
The Brooklyn-born Papoose - real name Shamele Mackie - won’t be able to see his fiance now until November.
I guess Papoose won’t be able to blow Remy’s back out on those jail house visits now! SMH, what was she going to do with a hand cuff key?
Remy Ma and Papoose will get married today at a ceremony at Rikers Island Jail, where Remy is currently being held. They will each be allowed to have two guests at the ceremony. Remy Ma is currently at Rikers while awaiting her sentencing, scheduled for tomorrow, for shooting former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen. Remy faces up to 25 years in prison.
Papoose recently told MTV that him and Remy Ma plan on tieing the knot in prison. Remy was found guilty on four charges including first-degree assault and in result she will have to spend some time in prison. There, her and Pap will smootch and make their hood love official.
“We always wanted to keep our personal lives personal, so that’s why we never went public with our relationship,” he wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. “Right now, I just feel like she gotta live through me. Yes, we were scheduled to be married on a yacht April 27th. But due to circumstances beyond our control, we are now making arrangements to be married in prison.
Remy Ma has been found guilty on four charges.
The verdict just came down in the Remy Ma trial, and the rapper has been convicted on four major charges — two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Damn, I was wrong! I thought she would beat it. It’s all in the judges hands now he/she would determine how much time Remy will serve. She faces up to 25 years.
The judge in Remy Ma’s assault case has sent the jury to deliberate.
The prosecutor, saying the only real dispute is whether the shooting was accidental, told jurors, “Ms. Smith took an illegal .45-caliber automatic and loaded it with hollow-point bullets and got into Ms. Joseph’s car.”
Adding that Smith used both hands to cock the weapon as she got in, McIntosh said, “She took every step you had to take to shoot somebody.”
To me it sounds like Remy is going to beat this case. No one testified that she shot her on purpose not even the victim (Makeda Joseph). So what do the jury has to go off of?
The victim in the 2007 Remy Ma shooting has withdrawn her $20 million lawsuit against the rapper. Makeda Barnes-Joseph, claims to have been shot in the abdomen by Remy in a dispute over $3000.
Remy faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Ma must of had the goons put pressure on Barnes-Joseph again!
