Hip Hop Business: Jay Z To Buy New York Yankees Shares

Jay-Z is looking to expand his variation of investments into the baseball world - he now wants to own shares in the New York Yankees.

Jay-Z told London’s Time Out magazine, “Someone told me yesterday that someone else had a piece of the New York Yankees - ‘We wanna talk to you, yadda yadda yadda.’ I mean, I love the Yankees so I’m in the middle of following that through, but sometimes it comes to be nothing.”

Dame Proving That He Don’t Need Jay Z: Signs A $4 Billion Deal

Couple Damon Dash and Rachel Roy have announced a joint venture with Jones Apparel, Inc to expand the Rachel Roy Collection fashion brand.

The Rachel Roy Collection was launched in spring 2005 to favorable reviews in the fashion industry.

The line is currently available in luxury department stores such as Nordstrom and Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.

The brand has expanded overseas to the United Kingdom, the Middle East, South Korea, and Indonesia.

According to a press release, the joint venture is reported to be worth $4 billion between the two companies. Additional terms of the venture have not been disclosed.

This gumdrop head looking dude is still working hard. Alot of people counted Dame out after the breakup between him and Jay Z, saying he don’t have what it takes to continue making money.

He sure proved them wrong, this is definitely a good look!

Hip Hop Business: Jay Z Signs A Deal For $150 Million

The New York Times reports that later this week Jay Z will finalize a $150 million deal with Live Nation.

The deal answers a question that had been circling through the rap world for months: Where would Jay-Z take his next corporate role? As part of the arrangement, Live Nation would finance the start-up of a venture that would be an umbrella for his outside projects, which are expected to include his own label, music publishing, and talent consulting and managing. Live Nation is expected to contribute $5 million a year in overhead for five years, with another $25 million available to finance Jay-Z’s acquisitions or investments, according to people in the music industry briefed on the agreement. The venture, to be called Roc Nation, will split profits with Live Nation.

Hip Hop Business: Jay-Z And Steve Stoute Ad Agency

Jay-Z has been elected chairman of Translation Advertising, a new advertising agency that is part of Translation Consultation and Brand Imaging owned by Steve Stoute.

Stoute and Jay-Z together own 51% of the company, and the other 49% is owned by Translation’s parent company, the Interpublic Group.

Jay-Z will help direct the agency’s efforts to connect advertisers to a newer, younger, demographic according to The New York Times.

“As an artist, you make music,” Jay-Z told The New York Times. “And if you see people who don’t know how to market your music, you get involved in it.”

Jay stay getting that money, he is great role model for young kids all over. I like how he tries to capitalize in many different areas. That’s actually the key to reaching that billion he’s always talking about.

Producer Pharrell Williams and designer Camille Miceli will unveil a new fine jewelry collection named Blason being launched with Fashion house, Louis Vuitton. The pieces range in price from 1,400 to 420,000 Euros, or approximately $2,070 to $621,000.

Pharrell trying to get that bread! You have to admire this dude for trying to make these moves, regardless if he looks like a weasel or not, he’s doing his thing!

Hip Hop Business: Jay Z’s Real Estate Venture

According to the New York Post, Jay-Z and a group of partners Abraham Shnay and Scott Shnay, and Charles Blaichman, recently bought a $66 million piece of prime property in New York’s trendy Chelsea neighborhood.

All of Jay’s group of partners have previously been involved with high profile development projects in the city. The property purchased stretches from 510 W. 22nd Street to 512 W. 21st Street.

Scott Shnay told the Post,

“It’s a great piece of property adjacent to the High Line in a great neighborhood,”

You have to admire this guy! He operates on a level which is beyond comprehension to the average human being in our intercity neighborhoods. Good work Jay, you’re a great role model!
